Yvonne Chin (she/her)

Legal Director

 

Yvonne Chin is the Legal Director at the Sexual Violence Law Center. She has experience litigating a wide range of claims in state, federal, and administrative courts, including civil and constitutional rights, victim rights in criminal cases, family law, protection orders, landlord-tenant law, defamation, personal injury, and more.

During law school, Yvonne worked in the Special Education Clinic, advocating for students with disabilities. She also served as a court-appointed guardian ad litem (GAL) in Illinois, advocating for the best interests of minors and disabled adults. Yvonne has worked in both private firms and non-profits, including a role as Senior Staff Attorney at the ACLU of Washington. She has been active in various committees, including the Seattle Public Schools Title IX Task Force, the King County Bar Association Anti-Racism & Equity Committee, the Washington Gender and Justice Committee, and the AOC Protection Order Forms Subcommittee. Additionally, she serves as a pro tem magistrate and judge in Seattle Municipal Court.  

Yvonne holds a Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar College. She is admitted to practice in Washington and Illinois, as well as in the Ninth Circuit and the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington.
